Book a Talk

Arrange a CYP450 training talk for your clinic, pharmacy or professional group. We prepare clear, careful sessions on enzyme pathways, medicine interactions and practical questions for South African clinicians, pharmacists and wellness teams.

Book a Talk

What a CYP450 talk covers

Our talks explain cytochrome P450 enzymes in plain language, with the focus kept on how these pathways affect medicine response, nutrient pathways and everyday clinical questions. The aim is not to overwhelm people with jargon, but to help teams understand the basics well enough to read labels, notes and literature with more confidence.

Topics can be shaped for your audience, whether you need an introduction for a mixed team or a more detailed session for pharmacists and clinicians. We keep the content factual, careful and suited to the South African setting, where patients often use more than one medicine, supplement or traditional product at the same time.

  • What CYP450 enzymes do in the body
  • Why interactions can happen between medicines
  • How to read common interaction warnings
  • Where literature is clear, and where it is still uncertain

Who should book a session

These talks suit clinics, pharmacies, medical practices, wellness teams and professional groups that want a better working understanding of CYP450 science. They are also useful for journal clubs, staff development sessions and small teaching groups that need a practical overview without turning the meeting into a lecture full of acronyms.

We work with teams in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Bloemfontein, and can tailor the level of detail to the room. If your group includes both clinical and non-clinical staff, we can keep the explanation balanced so everyone follows the main points.

  • Clinicians needing a refresher on interaction pathways
  • Pharmacists supporting medicine safety discussions
  • Wellness practitioners who need careful, evidence-based context
  • Student groups and CPD style sessions

How to arrange a talk

Booking a talk is straightforward. Send an enquiry through the contact page and tell us who the session is for, how long you want it to run, and whether you need a broad overview or a focused topic. We then shape the content around your audience and the practical questions you expect them to ask.

If your group needs printed notes, a slide-based session or a shorter briefing, we can plan for that as well. For in-person sessions in the Cape Town area, we work around venue access, parking and local time constraints. For teams elsewhere in South Africa, we can arrange a suitable format for the meeting type and schedule.

  • Tell us your audience and preferred length
  • Share the main questions or topics you want covered
  • Confirm whether you need slides, notes or a Q and A section
  • Use the enquiry form on our contact page to start

What we prepare before the session

Every talk is prepared with care from established general knowledge and current literature. We do not offer testing, treatment or personal medical advice, and we do not make claims that go beyond the evidence. If a question goes beyond the scope of the session, we will say so plainly and suggest the group speaks to their own doctor or pharmacist about specific medicines.

Our preparation may include a journal scan, a plain-language summary, or a set of notes that your team can use afterwards. The goal is to keep the science accurate and usable, especially where drug interactions, enzyme variation and supplement use may come up in day-to-day practice.

  • Literature review of the topic you need
  • Plain-language speaking notes for the presenter
  • Optional reference list for follow-up reading
  • Careful wording for shared learning and teaching

Formats for clinics, pharmacies and groups

We can adapt the session to suit the room and the time available. Some groups want a short lunchtime briefing, while others want a longer workshop with discussion and case note development. For practices working through load-shedding schedules or split shifts, we can keep the format practical and time aware.

Typical formats include a single talk, a teaching series or a workshop with questions at the end. If your team is meeting in Rondebosch, Claremont or Newlands, we can discuss a local session. If you are elsewhere, we can still arrange support for a professional group or internal meeting.

  • 30 to 45 minute briefing
  • Longer training talk with discussion
  • Workshop for staff learning or CPD style teaching
  • Tailored session for a specific medicine class or interaction theme

What to expect after the booking request

Once you send an enquiry, we review the topic and come back with a practical plan for the session. That usually includes the likely structure, the content focus and any materials that should be prepared in advance. If the group has particular concerns, such as common interaction questions or supplement use in practice, we can build those into the talk.

Our team includes Dr Luyanda Mbeki, Ayesha Daniels, Pieter van Rooyen, Naledi Molefe, Sibusiso Khumalo and Taryn Naidoo, so the content is handled by people who work with science communication, literature review and training support every day. We keep the tone clear and careful, with no hype and no guesswork.

Questions we get asked

Do you give personal medical advice during a talk?

No. Our talks are educational only. We explain CYP450 science in general terms and tell people to speak to their own doctor or pharmacist about their medicines.

Can you tailor a talk for pharmacists or clinicians?

Yes. We adjust the level of detail for the audience, from general overview to a more technical discussion of interactions and literature findings.

How do we book a session?

Use the enquiry form on our contact page and tell us your audience, preferred timing and topic. We will then plan the session format with you.
