Our team

The people behind the work bring together science writing, clinical literature, education and careful editing for CYP450 topics. Based in Rondebosch, Cape Town, we support clinicians, pharmacists and wellness practitioners across South Africa with clear summaries they can use in practice.

Science with a practical South African focus

CYP450 Insights is built around one idea, that enzyme science should be readable enough to use in real conversations about medicines, nutrition and everyday health. Our team works from established general knowledge on cytochrome P450 pathways, drug-enzyme interactions and common interpretation issues, then turns that material into literature reviews, educational briefs and plain-language summaries. We do not test patients or give personal medical advice. For any medicine question, people should speak to their own doctor or pharmacist.

From our Rondebosch base in Cape Town, we prepare work for clients in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Bloemfontein. That includes support for clinics, pharmacies, training rooms and practitioner groups that need careful wording, practical context and references that are easy to trace.

  • Founded in 2012 and led by Dr Luyanda Mbeki
  • Focused on CYP450 education, not testing or treatment
  • Prepared for South African professional settings

Dr Luyanda Mbeki, Managing Director

Dr Luyanda Mbeki guides the organisation’s direction and keeps the team anchored to careful, clinically aware communication. He reviews the balance between scientific detail and practical use, especially when material touches on medicine response, enzyme pathways and the limits of what can be said with confidence. His role is to make sure the work stays accurate, measured and useful to the people reading it.

He also helps shape the tone for client-facing work, so that complex topics stay clear without becoming over-simplified. In a field where people can be tempted to make big claims, his focus is restraint, clarity and proper wording.

Ayesha Daniels and Pieter van Rooyen on the science detail

Ayesha Daniels, our Lead Science Writer, turns dense technical material into plain language that still respects the science. She writes educational briefs, journal scans and summaries for clinicians and pharmacists who need a quick, careful read before a meeting or teaching session. Ayesha is especially attentive to terms that can be misunderstood, such as induction, inhibition and variation between people.

Pieter van Rooyen, our Clinical Literature Analyst, works through papers, reviews and reference trails so the team can separate established knowledge from weak interpretation. He supports the literature review process from first scan to final note, which helps keep our outputs grounded and practical. His work is quiet but it makes a real difference when a topic has more questions than answers.

  • Scientific language that stays readable
  • Literature checking with a critical eye
  • Summaries that stay within the evidence

Education and content support from Naledi and Taryn

Naledi Molefe, our Education Programme Coordinator, helps turn enzyme topics into training talks, workshop outlines and classroom-friendly material. She thinks carefully about audience, whether the room is full of pharmacists, wellness practitioners or mixed professional groups, and keeps the structure moving at a pace people can follow. Her focus is on learning that is steady, useful and respectful of the audience’s time.

Taryn Naidoo, our Medical Content Editor, checks wording for accuracy, consistency and readability before anything goes out. She looks for places where a sentence may overstate a point, or where a shorter phrase would serve the reader better. In a subject like CYP450 science, that kind of editing matters. It helps keep the material honest and clear, which is what professionals need most.

Project and research coordination with Sibusiso Khumalo

Sibusiso Khumalo manages research projects and keeps multiple strands moving at once, from journal scans to case note development and reference list building. He helps the team stay organised across deadlines, revisions and client requests, which is important when a brief needs to be ready for a teaching session or an internal review. His work supports accuracy behind the scenes.

He also assists with team workshops and curriculum support, making sure the right source material reaches the right person at the right time. When the subject matter is complex, good coordination saves time and avoids confusion. That matters in a field where one unclear note can lead to a poor summary.

How our team works with clients across South Africa

Clients come to us for literature reviews, educational briefs, plain-language summaries, interaction overviews, slide deck writing and content editing. Some ask for a full training talk, while others need a short journal scan or a carefully phrased collaboration note. We are set up to support practitioners in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Bloemfontein, with Claremont meetings and Newlands meetings available where needed.

Our base in Rondebosch is practical for working across the city, and our process is designed for remote collaboration too. Whether the topic is enzyme variation, medicine interactions or broader educational support, the same standard applies, careful review, clear wording and no guessing. If someone needs personalised guidance about a medicine, they should speak to their own doctor or pharmacist.
